Area Covered: Surrey, London
Summary: Web programming for around 7-8 years
Working in IT Customer Service for 18 years
Company: Lawrence & Beavan
Description: Anthony and I were jointly appointed to work on building a new website for local junior football club Hamsey Rangers FC. Anthony provided the initial design spec and page sample - I then took the sample and tidied up the HTML and references to CSS coding in order to create a single style sheet for the site, rather than having one on each page.
We also created an image gallery for each of the club's teams, my role there being to create template pages and incorporate over 1000 initial images provided by Anthony, for use both in the gallery and around the site generally.
Anthony provided me with plenty of advice along the way, which I look forward to implementing in future projects, but my primary contribution to our joint effort was in the construction and overall project management of the site once the initial specification meetings had taken place.
Project Value: £2500 but services provided to the club free of charge in order to help me build experience in web projects.
Company: Creation Landscapes
Description: Following on from a referral from one of the employees I produced two sample screens for a Landscape Gardeners using Paint Shop Pro, one of which was selected for the live site.
The brief was to produce a modern looking site and to also introduce a new URL promoting a new Building service provided by the client.
From the written content on the firm's previous site and some new content provided I created 10 pages, based on the corporate colour scheme and featuring the firm's distinctive yellow vans. Each page also featured examples of work previously produced, as well as a strap line highlighting a particular facet of the firm's ethos relevant to each page.
In terms of site graphics my first task was to reproduce the firm's logo based on examples taken from photographs of their vans and then to incorporate other graphics from the previous site. The task was then to also create a gallery of images provided by the client, which were resized and individual thumbnails created.
The fee charged to the client includes 2 years support and maintenance.
Company: Hamsey Rangers Football Club
Description: Following my implementation of a new website for junior football club Hamsey Rangers, I have continued my involvement with the club, updating the age group pages of the site for the new football season, developing a new top banner and regularly updating the site with News items. I am in regular contact with the Club Secretary Phil Edmonds, updating weekly fixtures lists and top scorer data onto the site, converting Excel spreadsheets to PDF. I also proactively contact the club's coaching staff with regards to updating of content for their team pages.
Part of my ongoing role is to resize and upload onto the site images provided for the club's many gallery pages. Phil has also occasionally involved me in the maintenance of a new external league competition website that he has been asked to update on the club's behalf and, as a separate task, in the design of a new club letterhead.
Project value around £750 per annum, but provided free of charge as part of my support of the club.
Company: Hamsey Rangers Football Club
Description: Following a recommendation I was invited by Kevin to work alongside design consultant Anthony Lawrence in the creation of a new site for junior football club Hamsey Rangers FC, of which Kevin is Chairman.
I took Anthony's proposal and initial page design sample and created a site containing around 75 pages, email addresses for all committee members and coaching staff, a WordPress blog site (August 2008) with the ability for each team to log in and post their own news and match reports and a gallery containing nearly 1500 images. With regards to the email addresses and blog site I also created documentation to assist in their implementation.
Part of my role was to present the new site at a club managers' meeting and I also project managed the site build over the course of 4 or 5 months, updating Kevin on outstanding tasks and offering a number of suggestions on how to take the site forward.
Project Value around £2500 but was completed free of charge as part of my support of the club and also in order to help me build experience.
