Interior design degree - this has been deferred until 2010 in order for me to complete the Core Management Skills Programme as part of my current employers training and Development.
RELEVANT TRAINING (including In-Service Training)
This course allowed me to update the staff website.
I attended this course to increase my knowledge of the Excel programme. This allowed me to produce better spreadsheets for my current employer.
Access is a database programme. I needed to know the basics of Access in order to build a regional database for my current employer.
A need for a Fire-Marshall was identified within my current role at and I volunteered to attend. This was done at the West Midlands Fire Brigade training centre in Smethwick. The objectives were to be able to identify fire hazards and to carry out risk assessments.
First Aid training
Another need was identified at my current place of employment for a first aider to be available at the regional office. Again, I volunteered and learnt basic first aid. This course was the one day course run by St John’s Ambulance.
Core Management Skills Programme
This is an internal course which I was nominated to attend as I have line management responsibility in my current role and the number of staff I will be line managing increase over the coming months. This is a year long course and is evidence based, similar to an NVQ at level 4. My employer is now an Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) Programmes Provider. This means that all our internal Leadership and Management programmes are accredited to ILM as an Endorsed or Developmental Programme. This includes the Core Management Skills Programme.
