Project managing a portfolio of projects for Siemens Energy Division, value circa £56m, for the oil and gas industry, supplying gas turbine generating / compressor sets up to 13MWe. Liaison with customer and customer’s Project Company located in Middle East by email and teleconference calls, and facilitating face to face meetings. Organizing engineers to provide information and dialogue with customers engineers and managers. Change control for additional designs or variations to main contract. Managing budgets with business analysts and reporting progress to CFO and CEO of Siemens Energy Division, Lincoln. Heading an export control team to ensure all packages were complaint with US embargo regulations for Syria which involved working with purchasing and engineering department to obtain complaint assemblies and parts.
Set up project PMO within Siemens Energy Division, Lincoln (First assignment with Siemens) to provide an improved service to the Aftercare Customer Engineering Department. Standardized the project template for MSProject and created a master resource and embedded the project plans in a master plan. Producing forward capacity planning utilizing MSProject Analyze facility’ for resource data, using advanced VBA techniques, placed in a pivot table for in-depth analysis. This provided a 6-9 month view into the future for resource levels. The master plan enabled real time presentation of all the current projects in meetings and also the data for the KPIs on key milestones delivery (RAG status). Completed workflow analysis with recommendation for improvement. The system is still in operation today and was one of the reasons I was asked back again but, in a new department.

Siemens have taken on a large order book requiring the stage building and supply of 16 - off 13MWe mobile gas turbine generator units for the Venezuelan Government. In addition Siemens have a programme of restructuring the packaging of the units which is moving to Hengelo, NL. This has introduced high risk into the supply chain which required additional resource to progress suppliers. I was requested back by the Manufacturing Director to create focus within the procurement division to project manage and expedite major components for gas turbine generator build. Building supplier relations, resolving commercial and technical queries, both internally and with the suppliers and involves visiting suppliers in, UK , Romania to expedite orders and resolve issues/ risks.

Expediting all assemblies and components to achieve package build, liaison with 3rd party suppliers on technical issue in conjunction with designers. Presenting budget reviews to Siemens CEO and CFO on a regular basis, ensuring any variance was accounted for and risks were captured and mitigated. Responsibility and co-ordination of project to resource supplies of furniture from the Far East followed by complete plant and site disposal. Producing MSProject plans to concurrently close two large factories which involved working with the group directors at the early stages to plan personnel retention and redundancy dates, media announcement timings, all of which were commercially confidential. Planning relocation of staff and equipment to new offices, setting up out sourcing agency to help relocate non-retained staff and scheduling in interviews regarding individual’s pension rights. Stocks build scheduling, closure of manufacturing sections, planning cleanup operations and removal of archives data, cessation of utility supplies. Working with JDE (MRP) system software which had not been tailored to suit the business / manufacturing profile, the site was continuing manufacturing to build sufficient stock to satisfy customer orders and build a buffer stock leading up to full outsourcing. This required formulating complex Excel spreadsheets to extract the necessary data and present this in an easily understood format for the manufacturing section of the business. Tracking of progress was a combination of Excel spread sheets showing stock levels, actual sales, dispatches, manufacturing output, numerically and graphically with MSProject to track actual progress. In the latter stages of the project my involvement also included arranging for removal of archives and for the destruction of confidential information. Liaising with auction staff before, on the auction day and during the machine and equipment removals. Assisting with decommissioning of the computer systems and network routers and UPS systems
