As a journalist, I’ve had work published in a huge range of publications, from the Daily Mail and The Times to Take a Break and Chat. I’ve interviewed everyone from fame-hungry celebrities to hardened criminals and am adept at writing for a wide spectrum of audiences.
Since offering my services as a copywriter, I’ve created sparkling text in brochures and direct mail campaigns for big name companies like Virgin Holidays Cruises and written websites for clients in the business, manufacturing and catering sectors.
My experience in PR spans both the business and charity sectors, having worked in the busy press offices of Southern Water and Cats Protection.
I am available for all written work including news and features, web content, press releases, newsletters, blogs, direct mail material, social media updates, internal publications, reports and brochures.
Based in Brighton, Sussex, I live with my husband and two little boys. I usually work remotely but can travel to your premises if you prefer. Work examples and references are available on request.

Work Experience Summary: October 2010 - present:
Freelance copywriter and journalist
Bringing together my extensive experience in journalism, PR and copywriting, I embarked on my freelance career in October 2010. Since then, I have worked on a range of projects, including writing two 80-page glossy travel brochures for Virgin Holidays Cruises and creating copy for websites in the catering and technology sectors. I have also undertaken work for a press agency specialising in providing news based on statistical data, producing articles which were published in national newspapers including The Sun and Daily Mail.
March 2007 - October 2010:
Media Officer, Cats Protection
Working within the PR team I was responsible for seeking out quirky, unusual and heart-warming stories to achieve maximum publicity for one of the UK’s largest charities. Utilising my media knowledge and writing skills I helped Cats Protection reach millions of people through a range of platforms including newspapers, TV, radio and social media. As well as pro-actively planning media campaigns, I also dealt with day-to-day reactive work - managing media queries, providing statements and briefing spokespeople including Trustees and the Chief Executive. My other duties included media and political monitoring, producing daily media updates for senior management and contributing material for the website.
September 2006 - March 2007
Content Editor, Crawley News
Managing a team of five reporters I was responsible for the day-to-day running of the newspaper, making editorial decisions, checking copy for inaccuracies and potential legal issues, rewriting and editing stories, signing off pages and providing in-house training and copy clinics for the reporters.
May 2006 - September 2006
Press Officer, Southern Water
Joining Southern Water at a time when the company was receiving a significant amount of negative press, I was responsible for dealing with day-to-day media enquiries, briefing spokespeople and promoting positive news stories about the company. As Editor of the in-house Southern Water News, my duties included finding stories within the company, writing the entire publication, commissioning photographers and dealing with designers and printers.
June 2000 - May 2006
Journalist and Features Writer, John Connor Press Associates (Connors)
As a journalist at one of the UK’s leading press agencies, I regularly had work published in all national newspapers and many magazines including The Times, Daily Mail, The Mirror, The Daily Telegraph, Take a Break and Chat. I covered countless high profile court cases and worked on many major national news stories, including terrorist plots, murder investigations and extreme weather events. My six years as an agency reporter taught me how to interview a huge spectrum of people from hardened criminals to grieving relatives and how to communicate with everyone from high court judges to fame-hungry celebrities.
