Work Experience Summary: www.donksdesign.co.uk
Jan 2008 - Present Day Riot Design, Visualisation/Motion Graphics Artist, Leeds
At the start of January2008 I joined the Riot Family producing visualisations and animations with a fresh style and feeling to what is normally seen in everyday architectural animations. During my time here I found some true friends and developed my skills immensely helping the company with whatever skills it needed ranging from highly detailed modeling and rendering for animation or print to cutting edge motion graphics and video/DVD production I was always at hand. Projects undertaken here included many high profile clients including HKR Architects, SDA Architects, Jones Lang Lasalle and most recently we have worked on our second Leeds Met Project, after the success of the Rosebowl visuals we were asked to produce an animation for the new Headingly Carnegie cricket ground designed by Alsop which will be broadcast during the 2009 ashes match taking place there.
2006-2007 - 7T, Visualisation Artist, London
I was taken on board to help produce Visualisations of a high standard for many of the major architecture firms in the UK including AMEC, Cartwright Pickard Architects, Derwent Valley Holdings and Flaq Architects, also producing the visualisations for the new development plans of Oxford Street and Regent Street. Many roles were undertaken whilst I worked here including modeling and rendering to the highest 3D quality, bringing to life the original designs, video production using Adobe Premiere and Discreet Combustion and compositing the rendered still seamlessly into location photographs.
2004-2006 Skill Teaching
For 2 years I worked alongside the local Arts council and various other organisations (Animex, ARC, Animatus, The Verb Garden, LSC, Basic Skills and Adult education) to help groups in the community get a feel of animation, these groups include:
Mentally ill patients
Holme House Prison (Stockton)
Asylum seeker groups
The projects would run for around 13 weeks each working 10 hours per week with each group, during this time members of the group will write stories about their life and experiences which they would then animate, using stop motion techniques. Teaching and animation have always been the things I wanted to do with my life and this gave me the opportunity to do both.
2004-2006 - Fake Believe Studios, Managing Director, Middleborough
In the summer of 2004 Myself and 2 fellow students took a planned year break from university and set our own animation studio, with the intentions of gaining a minimal amount of animation experience in the industry and putting the company on the back boiler while continuing our studies. After this gap year form our studies we had landed our first animation contract for the Young Blood's animation trailer (an animation series set in the future written by Thrilanfere Limited). From the success of the outcome of this project came a lot of interest in the area and our workload and popularity increased.
Listed below are just a few highlights of the company:
Visualisation for Broadcast, Discovery Atlas: China Revealed - 422 South & the Discovery Channel
A five month project involving the creation of photo real visualizations of China, ranging from the streets of Shanghai and the muddy fields of the rice paddies, to the rocky mountains of the Himalayas, all of which were fully created in 3D. This prestigious on-going documentary series delivered fantastic High definition visuals of many of the World's most fascinating countries. The series was launched with a 90 minute exploration of China, which was aired October 1, 2006. Our role was to provide over 50 shots including satellite style maps and visual effects shots.
