London, GBAfoima bid for a short, simultaneous translation transcription job that was concurrently awarded to a number of other freelancers. Before starting, she twice asked for instructions that had already been given, however eventually produced a short, lacklustre transcription. This sample contained rudimentary English comprehension errors and spelling mistakes.
The job requirement had also required a minimum typing speed (this is to protect the freelancer, as the job paid per audio minute), and she refused to take a (paid) typing test. Once she eventually did the test, her speed was far below what had been stated as a minimum requirement for the job clearly stated in the original description.
At this point it was clear the work would not be up to the required standard, so she was asked to invoice for the completed work, and she presented an invoice for 3 times what was expected according to the job description. When asked to clarify what she was billing for, she simply said, “the last I could offer is…” (a number made up by her, more than double the stated amount for the job). Out of frustration and not wishing to waste further time I paid the invoice and PPH refunded the remaining escrow funds.
Compared to all other freelancers on the same project, dealing with Afoima was frustrating. Very disappointing, not recommended.

You deposited £30 into my escrow , we didn't even talk about the price and told me i was supposed to take a paid test, you almost wasted my time not telling me whether we shall proceed or not , I asked plenty of time and send an invoice you asked it was not fair and I decreased the payable amount.
As long as I have been working on transcription job I have never been asked typing speed which is not a requirement.
Just to let know you have paid just £10 for a sample of 10 minuite transcription, my wasted time and a paid test.
