Summary: Professional Experience
Manages an accomplished Sure Start Children’s Centre – Adopted various changes in Government policy including EYFS, Children’s Plan, AXS (Integrated Working) and the Common Assessment Framework and Safeguarding. Increased the reach of the centre to within 80% of the total potential reach of children under five in the area, increased and supported the team in order to deliver high quality outcome focused, family led services. Key to the success of the centre is the wider integrated team who through careful leadership share the vision of the centre.
Research – 2009/10 Practitioner led research project for the Children’s Workforce Development Council (CWDC) investigating the impact of the engagement of paternal carers in the early years. This used various research techniques and thematic analysis. Including presentations of the findings at two conferences and the document published.
2010/2011 Practitioner led research project for the National College of Leadership (NCL formerly the National College of School Leadership NCSL) focusing on harnessing the expertise of the best leaders to drive improvement beyond their own schools and organisations. Research programmes are undertaken whilst working full time and enhances my knowledge and encourages others within the team to embark on continuing professional development (CPD).
Delivery of workshops and training – Design and facilitation of several workshops on Schemas, Developing a Learning Culture within Settings, Culture and Diversity Awareness, Integrated Working in Early Years Settings, Behaviour Management, Transformational Leadership, Recording and Reporting, Recording Outcomes, Outcomes Based Accountability, Planning to Every Child Matters. Workshops delivered and designed for individual groups such as parents, service users, childminders, settings, children’s centre teams, health teams, volunteers, councillors, leaders and senior managers.
Coaching and Mentoring – Experience includes full formal supervision of a team of family support and early years workers, and outside of the setting mentoring peers on the Post Graduate Certificate in Leading Integrated Children’s Services in partnership with University College St Mark and St John. Encouragement to use reflective practice techniques and coaching questions and models in order to help people to develop and learn for themselves.
