One of the biggest mistakes I see is lazy copywriting.
That is copywriting that dives straight into a product’s features without laying out the groundwork needed to make a close connection first.
I’m talking about the carefully crafted words necessary to get inside the head of your audience, for example, visitors to your website, prospects scanning a landing page, reading a sales letter or email.
I’VE SEEN OUTSTANDING PRODUCTS STALLED BY SALES WRITING THAT MAKES THIS BASIC MISTAKE
Sure, I understand the thinking that’s responsible for this common error.
You have an amazing product and you can’t wait to tell the world about all the fantastic features it has to offer.
The problem is this.
Copywriting that doesn’t make the right emotional connections and clearly answer the “what’s in it for me?” or “why should I care?” questions is the kiss of death for your marketing strategy.
And, an ineffective marketing strategy will never support the vision of excellence you have for your business.
If I were to sum up effective copywriting in three little words, they would be:
CONNECT – CONVINCE – CONVERT
