Duemore...By working in design and architectural studios I have gained an understanding in architecture, furniture and product design, within the fields of the commercial, bespoke and luxury.
Due to this variety in design fields I can draw from craft methods and industrial techniques that I have gained as a designer/ fabricator. This often involved sourcing design-led products and having direct links to manufacture's, design groups and the client. Working closely with the designers/owners of design based studios dealing with the fabrication of projects in conjunction with the delivery and administrative organisation of those projects.
Initially I worked at Thomas Heatherwick's design/ architecture studio as a designer in an inventive environment where these skills were challenged and nurtured. Particularly in regards to problem solving and hitting crucial deadlines. This position often required interpreting the visions and the design intent of the studio director/senior designers. With all the projects being under a high influence of craft skills and logical thought.
Since then I have been working for United Visual Artists, where I was responsible for the prototypes and fabrication of a variety of projects. Involving permanent architectural and responsive installations. Whilst establishing a materials library for the studio. Researching suitable processes and techniques that would assist the realisation of each project and becoming fully involved in the concept, design and development phases.
Recently I have worked with Moritz Waldemeyer on a variety of electrical/interative projects. Craft and surface design based projects with Studio Glithero. Prototyping for 2D3D and several new projects that aim to expand the concept of creative play.
