I have extensive experience in the development and maintenance of financial and operational templates, tools and reports in Excel ('97 through to '13), using a combinationmore...I have extensive experience in the development and maintenance of financial and operational templates, tools and reports in Excel ('97 through to '13), using a combination of simple and complex formulas, VBA and MS Query to retrieve external data (e.g. webpages, SQL databases/Sage via ODBC). Some examples of which are as follows:
• Financial Management (e.g. management accounts; revenue, GP and performance monitoring; checking and auditing; pipelining; ROI monitoring of presales effort)
• Sales and Internal Budgeting (e.g. project budgeting based on target GP or defined sets of resource rates and externals with integral client reporting functionality; software sales with multiple variables such as licence types and volume discounts; internal project financial forecasting and monitoring).
• Data Gathering and Manipulation (e.g. exporting data from defined database, manipulating to illustrate trends and patterns).
My emphasis is always on the usability/automation of the resource to facilitate its ongoing use; if the data can’t be updated, or report replicated with minimal input, I haven’t done my job. I am also well versed in the change management and user training (and creation of associated help and training resources) to ensure its successful implementation and ongoing effectiveness within your organisation. Data integrity is also something I place fastidious importance on; access and parameters (often using validation) being a particular focus. Finally, aesthetics are also something not to be underestimated when creating something to be used by a wider audience.
With regards to my career, I’ve been working in mid to large scale Project, Operations and Financial management predominantly within the IT/Telecommunications, e-learning and NfP sectors since 2001. My experience in Senior Management places me in a position to advise on best practice (having significant experience of implementing and maintaining ISO 9001:2008 accreditation) and time and cost effective solutions to your organisational needs.
Communication is key whilst working with a client, and this can be achieved by phone, email, online meeting facilities such as Skype or Netmeeting or face-to-face. A general understanding of your organisation and access to a subject matter expert within, is key to a successful outcome, and I will do my best to ensure that this is facilitated.
