Now I'm all grown up I'm a writer - and being a freelancer has made the country life come true, too.
Before setting out on the freelance adventure 12 years ago, I was a staff journalist with the BBC and worked for UK national newspapers. Altogether I've had more than 30 years experience as a journalist/editor, so you can trust me to deliver if you hire me.
I love working with companies, charities and public bodies. I work with big organisations and micro-businesses - it's the variety that makes life interesting and keeps my writing fresh.
Recent projects include revamping web text for a major charity, editing a magazine for a tourism sector client, creating a new brochure for a leading holiday business, ghost writing, guest blogging for The Guardian and originating articles for news stand magazines.
Area Covered: Worldwide
Summary: I've been a working journalist and editor since 1982. Over the years I've researched, interviewed and written on just about every topic under the sun - from shifting cellulite to nuclear physics (though not yet in the same article, but it's early days...)
Over the last decade I've also worked as a consultant to a range of clients in both the public and private sectors. Projects include developing web content, writing and editing. My goal is to create copy that people like to read.
Education Summary: I'm a geography graduate and have a post-grad teaching qualification. I also have the National Council for the Training of Journalists' Certificate of Proficiency and completed a management development training programme for project managers while working for the BBC.
