She began her career in publishing, moving into public relations when she joined the PR department of Sussex Police. Here she learnt to deal with a sometimes hostile media, as well as handling the Force\'s exhibition, community and schools liaison programme, and writing for the in-house newspaper.
She moved into consultancy work when she joined Public Relations Counsel, becoming an associate director of the company where she was involved in all public relations techniques from strategic planning through to day-to-day account handling.
Five years later she joined Alan Pascoe Associates, to head up a public relations division. During this time she handled press liaison and public relations for The London Marathon, Asthma Week and the British Olympic Appeal.
On leaving APA, she set up her own consultancy and now provides a total public relations and communication service. Notable events she has been involved in include the press operation for Ian Botham\'s first charity walk from John O\'Groats to Land\'s End, and a BBC TV Panorama programme on the reorganisation of the NHS.
Jonquil is an Accredited Public Relations Practitioner, and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations for whom she has run vocational workshops. She has sat on the CIPR Council, Education and Training Committee, Student Development Working Party, and has been a judge in its Sword of Excellence Awards.
She has also been a trustee of St Margaret\'s Somerset Hospice.
