As an adult, I've had a love for writing of different kinds-fiction, analytic or argumentative, and non-fiction- because even though it is a challenge, I find it very rewarding to use language to capture the exact thing you are trying to express.
I was born and grew up in the US, I emigrated to Israel as a young adult, and returned to the US to get a Ph.D. in English at one of the highest ranked English literature departments in the world. I am married and I have four young adult children.
I have a high sense of responsibility and commitment: if I take on a project, I get it done without errors and on time, by hook or by crook. That's just the way I am. I will work and rework something as many times as it takes until I know I've done the best work I can. People who know me say I'm even tempered and I have a high respect for every human being. That's the creed I live by.
Area Covered: How and why I acquired my skills; my commitment to excellence
Summary: I have been a university lecturer of English Literature for twenty years as well as a lecturer of English as a Foreign Language for over ten years (concommitantly). Since I taught academic/analytical writing and engaged actively in writing research articles in my field, I am an expert writer in that I tailor my language precisely to the task at hand.
Most recently, I wrote content for a professional web site.
I am very well qualified for both any writing assignment and for conducting research in the humanities or social sciences.
Job Title: Lecturer of English Literature
Company: Bar-Ilan University, Israel
Description: As a lecturer of first and second-year students, my job was to lay a solid foundation for their understanding of literature and how it works. We studied interesting samples of the major genres-the poem, the short story, drama, and the novel, and we learned how the writer forms the work by constructing character, plot, structure, theme, and imagery. I tried to teach complex ideas by using language and examples that the first-year student would clearly understand.
As a teacher of analytical writing, I worked tirelessly to improve every aspect of my students' writing such as grammar and vocabulary, but most of all, I worked hard on getting them to express really significant ideas in as simple, direct and effective a manner as possible. I greatly emphasized thinking. That work qualifies me as a very effective writer of almost anything.
In my most recent job as a writer of content for a web site, I became familiar with the milieu of the internet and how writing for a web site differs from other types of writing. It must be down-to-earth, brief, persuasive, and effective.
