I look after the day to day accountancy needs of three branches. This includes looking after the ledgers, the cashbook, making payments, wages (60 staff), VAT returns, petty cash and banking. I also prepare the monthly profit and loss accounts, the monthly balance sheet, monthly cash flow report and monthly K.P.I spreadsheet. I also undertake any administration duties that are given to me by the three branch managers.

This included looking after the sales and purchase ledgers, the daily cash book, making payments, wages, credit control, VAT returns, prepayments, accruals and preparation of the monthly management accounts. This also included any adhoc duties that needed to be preformed such as production of information reports for the business proprietor.

I was the assistant to the Group Accountant and I was responsible for the day to day accounts of the four group companies. This included sales and purchases ledgers, cashbooks, wages (including CIS subcontractors), making payments and help with preparation of the monthly management accounts. I also undertook any adhoc duties that needed to be completed such as producing cash flow forecasts or compiling accounts data for decision making purposes by the directors.

When I started I was responsible for the day to day accounts of one the companies in the group. This included sales and purchase ledgers, cashbook, making payments, wages, VAT returns, prepayments, accruals and preparation of the monthly management accounts. I also assisted the group accountant in preparation of the other group company’s management accounts and I covered the day to day account duties in the other companies when necessary. I was also given the task of investigating and correcting any mistakes in the group’s accounts, which lead to me uncovering a major fraud by the previous bookkeeper. In my time at this company I became a competent user of SAGE Line 50 and SAGE Payroll. I have also used SAGE Line 100.

I worked within the corporate finance team. My main duties included the analysis of client’s financial information for the preparation of draft accounts. These accounts included balance sheets and profit and loss statements. The draft accounts that I prepared where for a wide section of clients from sole traders to limited companies. I also prepared income and expenditure statements for some of the smaller clients. Other duties included the preparation of client’s VAT returns and I was also responsible for the bookkeeping for 2 clients.
Education Summary: I am currently studying towards my ACCA qualifications. I have completed part 1 and I am undertaking part 2 at this moment in time.
