I help screenwriters, producers, and production companies from around the world forge scripts into crisp and compelling stories that connect with audiences.
I am also a freelance features editor, copywriter and proofreader. On occasion, I lecture on screenwriting and run my own screendoctoring business. I am also a contributor to the magazines Six Degrees Films and Close-Up Film Magazines. Check out the retrospectives on Ernst Lubitsch and Oliver Stone.
And oh, I dabble in the occasional ghost writing which I absolutely love!
As a self-professed nut on all things writing, I suppose you could consider me a Jack of All Trades, but equally passionate about all of them.
My services include but are not limited to:
• content for websites
• audio interviews for websites
• ad copy, banners, taglines, concepts
• ppt presentations
• online video production
On the weekends, I am a hot dog insurance salesman and Happy Meal crash test dummy.
And double oh, I am out to improve the world in any way I can, one word at a time.
Thanks for looking, good luck on your project, and have a great day!

Summary: I’m Hyan Thiboutot, a professional North American scriptdoctor living in the UK. I help screenwriters, producers, and production companies from around the world forge scripts into crisp and compelling stories that connect with audiences. My dual status means I have a unique perspective on both the American and the UK film industry.
I've earned my screenwriting epaulettes through the North American studio system where I heading the writer's department for Red Dot Production Studios for 3 years, before moving to the UK in 1995. With 17 years writing experience under my belt, I've become known as the go-to script doctor for production companies around the world.
On my own, I've sold two screenplays to Miramax; two to Fox Searchlight.
Much of what I do is confidential.
But I can safely say that I have worked with some big Hollywood names. As a script doctor, I'm uncredited on a number of projects, including "Ladies Room" with John Malkovich and Gretta Scacchi; "Camping Sauvage"; which went on to become a top money earner in Quebec 2005 and many more. There's also a little Cronenberg remake that I'm not suppose to talk about, due out next summer. :)
I'm also the co-founder of 1603 Films based in London with business partner Russell Taylor.
We're presently developing a slate of 5 projects for the BFI Fund. We're also on the hunt for funding for my biography script "Edison", which was selected for the Creative Focus at Annecy, and was voted 'Top 3 Must Read Scripts' by the UKFC (now defunct), Tribeca (2010), and Pathe (2010). Ex-WAA agent Loarianne Hall of Scanbox is attached as producer.
On occasion, I lecture at the EH Screenwriter's Group in Edinburgh. The last lectures were on Theme and How To Write The Killer Treatment, which is the basis of my work-in-progress book on Outlining and Treatment Writing. I've lectured at the Screen Academy in Edinburgh, and look forward to mentoring Masters students in the coming months.
You might be able to catch a few articles written for Julian Friedmann's ScriptWriter Magazine: Seven Acts That Changed The World: Writing The TV Series and Writing The Series Bible. This last article managed to get a certain writer (now a friend) into a bidding war and a commission!
I am also a contributor to the magazines Six Degrees Films and Close-Up Film Magazines. Check out the retrospectives on Ernst Lubitsch and Oliver Stone.

Hyan has really helped me improve my CV. It certainly looks very different and has a more modern approach to it. Having been out of the job market for a while I was unsure how it should look and Hyan has helped me with this.
Excellent email contact and completed work very quickly. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.
