After 14 yearsmore...Originally working in the farming industry I trained as a veterinary nurse before joining the RSPCA and gaining a place on the RSPCA's Inspectorate course. After 14 years as an RSPCA Inspector I left to become a freelance animal welfare consultant specialising in animal welfare legislation and law enforcement as well as kennel and workplace audits. I have worked in various countries throughout the world and have a website www.gaws.co.uk which has links to my regularly updated blog. I have also been a columnist for a pet magazine and submitted articles to online dog magazines.

May 2008 - present. Freelance animal welfare consultant (inc 6 months working with SPCA Selangor Malaysia) Responsible for running CSI workshops, Shelter audits and SPCA Inspector Training. Also columnist for Pets Lover Magazine in Malaysia. Charity assesment in Taiwan January 2011.
September 1990 - May 2008. RSPCA UK, first as Veterinary Nurse / Animal Ambulance Driver then from 1994 as an Inspector (Cruelty Investigator) During this time I volunteered as a dog catching trainer for a WSPA workshop in Egypt, helped with Training an animal charity in Barbados and volunteered with an emergency relief charity in Sri Lanka following the Asian Tsunami 2004
