My background prior to this is strongly scientific, mainly in the area of Biological and Health Science; Nutrition and Healthy lifestyles as well as Biochemistry, Human Anatomy and Physiology and Microbiology.
My work as a lecturer/tutor has been in the context of a Health and Social Care faculty of a large learning organisation therefore I am familiar with meeting the learning needs of and effectively communicating with a wide range of people working towards gaining qualifications in the health, social care and medical sector.
I have developed teaching and learning resources using many different kinds of media, predominantly through ILT, comprising interactive power points, case-study, role play and games in addition to more traditional approaches.
I have significant experience in delivering Key Skills to my students alongside their main course. I devise creative teaching and assessment tools for Numeracy, Literacy and ILT from Entry 3 to Level 2 and I find this challenge very rewarding.
My experience as a teacher of young and mature adults has allowed me to develop the skills to transfer my knowledge to other people at a range of levels. I have a proven ability to develop self-confidence in people. I help people to recognise their potential and foster self-esteem through patient encouragement, attention, enjoyment of learning and above all, making it fun!
I am very competent using the written and spoken word, IT and internet and can use this media to perform a wide range of services. I have studied management and leadership and am able to apply what I have learned to my work activities. I am effective, efficient, reliable and trustworthy.
Area Covered: Cheshire, North West England
Work Experience Summary: I am a competent user of the internet and confident in using this medium to maximise opportunities to work at home. Much of my planning, preparation and assessing of student work took place at my home office and I was able to offer my adult students round the clock support using email, evenings and weekends whilst working as a teacher, this way of working suits me, I am a great communicator.
