I started my career in the film industry in Rome, but a few years ago I decided to also become a translator. That's when I met and fell in love with localization. I love it because not only do you need to transfer a product from a source language to a target language, but also you need to adapt it to the linguistic and cultural customs of the target country. Localization allows me to be both creative and deeply structured at the same time.
✓ I have four years of experience as a localization, research, and data specialist. I spent 7,000 hours localizing data (English↔Italian) for Google's Knowledge Panel. Plus, I have 10+ years of experience in localizing websites, video games, eBooks, scripts, and subtitles; and that taught me the importance of timing in translation.
✓ I'm an award-winning novelist. My novel La circostanza was ranked 27th in the 2015 List of the Most Important Books of the Year by Corriere della Sera, the leading newspaper in Italy. I also won the 2015 Premio Berto.
✓ I studied narratology and dramaturgy. Although I don't use these tools simply to write films. The art of selling products is a narrative, as well, and not a mere series of taglines. You need to hook users to your pages with a cliffhanger like J.J. Abrams did at the end of each and every episode of Lost.
✓ I pitched ideas to the most important CEOs in the Italian film industry. I consider myself creative, but I also realize that you won't sell Lolita by saying that Nabokov is a gifted prose stylist.
✓ I lived in the three most regionally diverse cities in Italy: Milan, Rome, and Naples. I know how to successfully win the hearts and minds of Northern, Central, and Southern Italians. I'm truly passionate about my country: knowledgeable about Italian food, sports, engineering, clothes, tech, politics, art, and all the rest that might come to mind.
