Cortix are a French web design/hosting organisation, and opened a UK office in June of 2008.
As Sales Manager I was responsible for a small team of field sales people (5 people). The team sold websites to small businesses, with an average order value of Â£5,000. They were field based three days a week, and office based two days a week when they would be making their appointments.
My responsibilities included: Setting of targets; Monitoring performance, analysing and reporting; Recruiting of new team members; Training of new and existing staff;
Field accompaniments: Role play in the office for assessment and training purposes; Conducting one to one meetings monthly; Holding twice weekly team meetings; Disciplinary action where necessary; Introducing systems and procedures; Motivation and guidance of the team on a daily basis.

Running a commercial cleaning franchise. The reality of the financial return from this was vastly different to the Franchisorâï¿½ï¿½s projections. I therefore put this down to experience, and resumed my career in sales management. I will never again be seeking to move out of the corporate environment.

As Sales Manager I managed a team of both freelance and employed sales people, who secured new and repeat sales from predominately blue chip organizations. The sales were for training and development programmes, carried out both at the Holt and on client site, with an average order value around Â£5,000 (sales values ranged from approx Â£1,000 to Â£30,000). Sales were secured both over the phone and face to face. I was also involved in personal sales, and assisted with the day to day running of the business.

Telemarketing Manager âï¿½ï¿½ R G Telecommunications Ltd
RGT Ltd were a telecoms reseller set up approximately 20 years ago based in Surrey, with a client base predominately in the South East. They have now been bought out by Telinet.
Reporting directly to the General Manager, I was recruited in to set up the Telemarketing/Internal Sales Team, comprising part time and full time members of staff. Our target marketplace was the SME sector. The team prospected for new business and made appointments for the field sales people from a variety of cold/warm sales leads âï¿½ï¿½ namely contact lists, database, marketing campaigns/mailshots etc.
Additionally we focussed on customer retention and upselling into existing accounts by contacting existing customers with a view to ensuring they were happy, whilst looking for opportunities to introduce other products, and making appointments for the field sales people.
We also handled Internet sales enquiries where we advised on and sold Panasonic telephone systems and associated products.
I was responsible for the running of the Department including recruiting, training (group and one-to-one), and ensuring staff performed to required standards and targets. I had responsibility for the departmental budget. I provided monthly reports based on KPIs to the General Manager, along with adhoc reports and also attended regular management meetings where current results and forecasts were discussed along with new ideas.
I had a staff of nine.
