During my degree I experimented with many textile construction and manipulation techniques as well as traditional pattern cutting that developed my regard for the malleable relationship between construction and fabric. My work as an interior stylist has helped pursue my study of the dynamic between the mechanics of technical design and the emotional force of visual image. I have been running my own womenswear brand Jokoto for over 2 years now and with 3 full collections. Jokoto is a start-up womenswear label, co-run by myself and business partner Hannah Bartlett. Between us we share all aspects of the business, designing, pattern cutting, sourcing, and marketing. Our mission is to design contemporary, playful clothing, that allows the wearer be comfortable yet feel empowered. All our clothing is made from high quality cloths while also maintaining ethical production. We take our inspiration from the world around us, whilst keeping the manufacturing in the U.K. The Jokoto look is about tradition and wearable originality. We strive to achieve this by combining our shared passion for tailoring and sportswear, fusing the comfort and contouring panels of sportswear with the craft of tailoring.I often take on privet commissions working for various clients including bridal wear.
