I oversaw the completion of magazines both in relation to final edits and also the signing off of projects with our clients. All artwork for the Guides also came through me, and I was responsible for communicating technical specifications between the client and our designers for all advertising/design entries. My presence was expected at most of the shows we produced the guides for so networking with both clients and exhibitors was a vital part of what I had to do daily. The role demanded organisation, quick thinking, and excellent communication skills both internally and with clients plus an ability to learn about many different markets and products very quickly.
A huge part of my role was dealing with the clients and ensuring that the entire process ran smoothly for them from start to finish. Daily communication and schedule management both internally and with the client was essential.
I have written many articles ranging from Film Theory to historical articles. I was a lead reporter for my local magazine and I researched information for stories, conducted interviews and wrote pieces on a diverse range of topics. As well as this I have also written some articles for Supersweet Magazine, an online magazine that focuses on Art, Fashion and Music. I have always met, or improved on every deadline I have ever been given.
For a year I acted as the Publicity Manager for the Ghostfinder Paranormal Society (GPS). I was responsible for arranging all publicity for the group nationwide, which involves working efficiently and to strict deadlines. There is a need to be very organized when dealing with different media organisations, some I have dealt with recently include BBC Radio and Television, the Discovery Channel, local newspapers, magazines, websites and news agencies.
I have also gained some fabulous yet fleeting experience of the film industry when I volunteered to help out on a local film project. I worked assisting the director during the actual filming process. I also worked with the director and the financial backer of the project advising them of marketing techniques and tools and brainstorming how best to implement them.
