Freelance proofreader, typist and transcriber
I am a proofreader, copy-editor and audio transcriber, also available for data entry, typing and other office work undertaken in my home. As an academic proofreader I also offer a "bibliogging" service, producing a spreadsheet of your references created to your specification. I am currently assisting in preparing a book for publication with Cambridge University Press.
My typing speed is roughly 80wpm.
Rates of pay:
- proofreading/copyediting: basic rate £10 per 1000 words, plus £2 per 1000 words for bibliogging. Reduced rate for large projects (50,000 words plus), and for those on low incomes. Contact me to discuss!
- audio transcription: basic rate £3 per minute of audio for a good quality recording with no more than two persons speaking. I charge slightly more if there are additional speakers, or less clear audio quality, but will always discuss and agree on a price with you in advance.
- data entry other services: I'm flexible, so contact me to discuss!

Work Experience Summary:
2013-present: audio transcriber, including transcribing interviews for Deidre Ruane, a sociologist.
2007-present: proof-reader, copy-editor and bibliogger in the academic sector. Clients include Dr Liz Gloyn, a classicist specialising in Roman history and classical reception, Rodney Garrard, a geographer specialising in the Mount Everest national park, and Dr Shreena Kotecha, for her PhD thesis on St Augustine.
1999-present: accumulated extensive amateur experience in editing and proofreading play scripts, and proofreading and offering critique and advice on works of fiction.
1999-present: amateur event organiser and manager. I have organised more than fifty events of various kinds, including group holidays, freeform roleplays (which I have also co-written), and play-readings of varying sizes. This work has covered a wide range of skills and activities, and involved extensive use of office packages and social media.
2008-2009: writer and Tolkien adviser for game designer Reiner Knizia.
2006-2007: part-time box office assistant at the Orange Tree Theatre, Richmond.
Education: I have a degree in English literature from the University of Cambridge, graduating in 2001.
Typing speed: around 80 wpm.
