Whilst I may have been away from this field of work for some time, I feel that my gained knowledge has not diminished.
I have been responsible for the production and upkeep of important documentation. From being given disclosure by the Police upon a client’s arrest, I have had to study the evidence and advise the client thereafter on a course of action. Following on from this I have fully prepared the case for preliminary hearings within the Magistrates Court system and then regained control of some of the cases when they have either been elected or sent to Crown Court for either trial or stentencing.
I have then had to re-evaluate the evidence as provided by the CPS, garner the relevant and pertinent information from said documentation and thereafter provide a full brief to Counsel for Crown hearings. I have been responsible for the interview of witnesses as well as the accused. I have set up conferences with our client’s both in Chambers and within the prison system. I have taken direction from the barrister with regards any further investigative works to be carried out regarding the case and then prepare documentation to suit.
I have attended Court with the barrister, sitting behind Counsel and being liaison between client and Counsel whilst in the Court room. I have had the priviledge of previously being given rights of audience by His Honour Judge Elgan Edwards to speak in Court on behalf of a client. I have also had the responsibility to attend the Judge’s Chambers to apply for bail or adjust bail conditions in respect of clients.
I have a good eye for detail and am able to produce concise documents from information given.
I feel from the diverse cross section of society I have had contact with and been involved with that I am a good communicator. I am a patient listener and throughout my work experience I have endeavoured to understand and do my utmost to assist when anyone has had any difficulties. I am competent with the use of the computer and am able to collect and collate information when necessary.
I have also worked as a PA for a Facilities Management Company within the Nucular Industry and as such was responsible for the production and dissemination of highly confidential documentation. The usual office skills were required, such as filing and typing. I have a good and accurate typing speed.
I am currently working for a primary school and as such I am a compassionate person with a penchant for listening and understanding. I also run various groups within and without the school for children, including Green Team (a gardening club at school), A Youth Club at school for children up to the age of 12, I am a Girl Guide Rainbow leader for children from the ages of 4 to 7 and I am an SAS (Scout Active Support) member and also the Organiser/Administrator for Chester Scouts Gang Show. As I am working with children I have been DRB checked on numerous occasions!
Although I am primarily a stay at home mum (my work at the Primary School only takes me away from home for two hours a day) I feel that my experience in document preparation may be beneficial for those who do not wish to employ a secretary on a full time basis.
I am happy to travel to and from locations (within the Chester area) to pick up and drop off work. However, I am computer literate and able to use the benefits of email and social media.
