I started by developing the Electronic Catalogue before the Internet took off, before the browser was developed but I was overtaken by the life of the 'net but my enthusiasm for where it is going does not diminish.
The services that I have to offer are basically a link between the technical world and the real world. I will make computers work for you.

Billing computer services for the Computer Services Division, maintain the
Works Management System and a legacy Fax system. Both of these systems
were production systems used by customers of the Computer Services
June 2001-Jan 2006 Software Engineer, GDC Communications Ltd.
This involved the establishment of routines and procedures for a national works management system so that it had industrial strength routines in the production system. This included the support of real-time links to Telecom NZ, for the operation of service contracts.
A new CRM application was being implemented into the area of
Operations and Support Desk and was the main focus of activity, at the later
end of the period. Other areas of responsibility included the support of
GDC’s internal systems, including the Sage accounting. The reason for this
was the outward focus of all others in the IT department, due to the nature
of the work.
1998-2001 Consultant with Cap Gemini Ernst & Young
During the last 12 months I was leading the Web Support Team at Virgin Mobile, in the UK, on behalf of Cap Gemini Ernst & Young.
A simple description of the position was the provider of a Web Service, supplying e-commerce services to the public, with all the related technologies’.
Other projects undertaker during the time with Cap Gemini Ernst & Young included, set up EDI links for a pharmaceutical distribution company, proof of concept work for a London trading bank and the automation of error messages being passed into an Error Reporting and Control System’ for British Steel.

1996, EDI links to USA retail companies, eg JC Penny.
1987-97, Development of Electronic Catalogue. Funded by the European Community and the Northern Ireland Office, as the result of project negotiations.
1993-96, Shop Floor control, Clarence Clothing Company Ltd, Belfast, Northern Ireland.
1988-92 Finlay Engineering Ltd, Omagh, Northern Ireland. Control of inventory and the shop floor.
1986-88 Adria Ltd, Strabane, Northern Ireland. This company produced ladies tights, stockings and gent’s socks. Control production and supply for the UK and Irish retail chains, including supplies to Marks and Spencer’s, UK.
1982-1986 GEC Turbine Generators Ltd, Larne, Northern Ireland
I worked for Turbine Generators during my last summer holidays at Queen’s University and returned to them after graduating, as the Computer Installations Manager. Later I worked as the Pre-Manufacture Manager and ultimately, the Computer Services Manager. Here the systems ranged from financial to manufacturing, including real-time controllers on machine tools.

Description: Develop and maintain internal billing systems to the group (Compass Managed Services) also, run the FAX service and Works Management System (WMS), developed internally and used to control work for Telecom NZ as a sub-contractor.
