Weekly meetings with project team members from Aer Rianta and Directors ensured the project was kept on track.

In my role is as team leader, I successfully implemented SAP at thirteen sites between September 1999 and April 2000 in countries across Europe, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. My involvement included analysing business requirements, configuration, integration testing, training on site and go live support. I was heavily involved in setting up MRP and forecasting for 5 of these sites, including our main manufacturing plant in the UK. My main contact was with end users, as well as managers and directors across the business. Once the rollout was completed, I concentrated on optimizing business processes, and dealing with business issues for MM and PP, as well as supporting SD. Before leaving Alaris I completed an upgrade from 4.0b to 4.6C. Whilst at Alaris, I attended SAP courses on MM configuration, PP Overview and Basic Data for Discrete Manufacturing, including configuration.
Job Title: SAP Training Manager
Company: Guilbert UK
Description: I was responsible for establishing the SAP training department and the opening of a new UK Training Centre, managing and developing a team of 9 trainers servicing 9 locations covering SD, MM and FI modules. 35 different courses on SAP were written and delivered, all with supporting documentation. I also acted as the senior trainer for MM training including MRP and forecasting training, and was the author of the Purchasing Training Manuals.
Although I was Training Manager, I also had a role in the Inventory and purchasing part of the SAP team, due to my business experience in this area. This involved setting and monitoring objectives and KPI’s, and identifying any areas where a lack of understanding was leading to bad performance and correcting this, through training.
As a key member of the SAP implementation team my duties also included post implementation reviews and “Go Live” support.
To ensure that tight roll out schedules were met, I attended a weekly meeting with managers and Directors from the whole business, to discuss where problems where, and decide how to deal with them. Often these where people who, as well as the end user, don’t want the change of a new system.
A key area of responsibility was change management, which I had to use constantly dealing with end users. In Guilbert UK, we did not just change the computer system but changed processes in line with that system.
I held regular appraisals with all of my team, identifying areas where training in various skills was needed, as well as ensuring that very tight time scales were always met. Having built the team myself, in this role as well as others, I have experience with interviewing, disciplinary matters, and motivation and leadership.
