Student Events Manager Jun 2007 - Nov 2007
This position was created following presentation of my strategic vision for fresher events to the Students Union. It involved sole co-ordination, promotion and management of over 20 events spanning just 12 consecutive days. The events varied from welcome parties to extreme sports demonstrations and were attended by, on average, 3000 new students.
Key Successes: For the first time in 7 years all the events sold out and the Students Union generated Â£2,500 in profit compared to a loss of Â£32,000 the year before. Although it may be true, I wouldn\'t say the last line.
Event Management Services
Events Assistant August 05 âï¿½ï¿½ June 06
As a key member of the event team this role required planning, marketing, selling and executing corporate training conferences across Europe including continual liaison with the event sponsors. The marketing aspect focused on building the number of clients and promoting the EMS conferences. Clients included Microsoft, BP, Orange and HP.
Key Successes: Generated over Â£100,000 revenue from sales of conference places during the year. EMS offered a full time event management position upon graduation.
President July 2004 âï¿½ï¿½ July 2005
The role of president is an elected post presiding over a team of 8 colleagues for a period of one year. During this year the club organises a ski holiday to France for 300 members, trains and competes ski and snowboard race teams at a national level and hosts weekly social events. The position of president is hugely varied and offers a large range of useful experience.
Key Successes: Sports personality of the year award (1 of 1 award each year). Awarded full sporting colours (1 of 30 each year). Generated Â£4,500 of sponsorship from effective marketing and promotion. Achieved the highest membership numbers.
