My personal skills will go a long way towards building up an extensive contacts list, as it's something I have previously experienced at Rotherham United. Whilst working there, I was in the PR department, and one of the major goals is to boost the profile of the club, whilst generating and keeping interest from current and potential supporters.
My forward thinking plans included making the most of social networking sites, as these (particularly Twitter) are becoming a big player in society today and must be utilised. However, the demographic of your audience is also important, which is why the matchday programme continue to be up to scratch, and as a reward we were honoured with the “League 2 Programme of the Year” in 2010, and are nominated in 2011.
What's vital working in a press position for an organisation rather than with a newspaper is understanding the importance of providing a positive element on stories, which as a naturally optimistic and positive person I find easy to do.
