I have been able to target a variety of customers and personalise particular art pieces and designs to their liking. This is done in the form of wall art, murals and canvasses, in private, public and commercial environments.
Area Covered: Leicester
Work Experience Summary: Samworth Enterprise Academy Graffiti Club
This project came about as a result of a presentation that I did for Leicester City Council and the local Community Policing Team. It was felt that the energy and the creativity behind Graffiti and related criminal damage could be channelled into something positive and constructive. My main objective in this project was to introduce graffiti as an expression of art and totally avoid the typical TAG (vandalism) graffiti that is most common. In the process, we have been following Graffiti characters and Graffiti emotions and combined them together to form many kinds of Graffiti Art.
The Graffiti Club has recently been given the opportunity to create a notice board to be placed outside the reception, at Samworth Enterprise Academy, displaying all information on extra, after school activities.
The Endeavour Learning Centre (ELC), National Space Centre,
I was approached to design and submit a number of logos for the Endeavour Learning Centre at the National Space Exhibition Centre. By working directly with the ELC manager, I was able to come up with the final design of the logo, which would be used on their website and various merchandise.
The Lancaster School Arts and Graphics Workshop
The school became aware of my skills and experience in design, art, teaching and my team building and interpersonal skills. I was introduced to the Arts department with a view to exploring various projects to enhance the art and design experience.
The first project consisted of workshops that involved drawing techniques, painting techniques and several different ways to express art. As Graffiti and urban design were dominant amongst the students, the latter workshops also focused on Graffiti Art. The main emphasis in these workshops was to encourage a more expressive approach to art, using Graffiti as a guide.
Using the technical skills that were developed in the art and graphics workshops, students were then tasked with a mural project located in the art department. All designs were combined and then filtered into one united design that was then painted onto the corridor wall. This not only involved a lot of coaching and teaching skills, but also involved a lot of team building amongst students of different skills, ages, and backgrounds, including motivational and incentivising skills.
Following the positive results and successful delivery of the corridor project, we embarked on a minimal Graffiti Sport theme in the sports hall for the PE Department. In addition to motivating the students, this involved discussions and liaisons between the Art and Design department and the PE department staff and students, in order to bring about the result that everybody had been involved with and desired.
Extension of Art and Design Skills Generally
In addition to graphic designing, I have had a keen interest in customised cake design from a young age. Alongside my mother, who designs and provides cakes for all occasions, I provide my input on the more elaborate and obscure design work. E.g. cake sculpting, unique designs etc. This involves direct liaisons to determine the personalised design they desire.
I have also been involved in various other design and art projects:
During my degree course, my father decided to design and build his own office and work space. Right from the planning stages all the way through to completion, I was involved in advising on not just the structure but also environmental design. e.g. artificial and natural lighting, materials, spatial arrangements etc. This involved direct liaisons with the architects, structural engineers and the builders.
I have designed and built the decking for my parents’ that supports a full size hot tub. This has also included the landscaping and redesign of the garden to add more functionality for garden parties and the like.
