Current position – I am currently working freelance for a number of companies.
Freelance IT Consultant – senior developer at ePAQ systems LTD 2007 – 2015
ePAQ is an electronic questionnaire platform for NHS trusts. It enables patients to fill out questionnaires relating to their health problems from home. This data is then imported into the NHS’s N3 network over WCF services and attached to the correct patient’s demographic data on the corresponding trusts N3 ePAQ system.
The technologies I used at ePAQ are C# and MVC, with the entity framework as an ORM, using dependency injection (Ninject) and a HTML front ends using the Bootstrap CSS framework. The company’s touch screen questionnaire software has an Angular JS front end. For passing data between our systems I used window communication foundation web services (WCF). SQL Server with was used as the database in which I’m more than happy writing queries, views, functions, stored procedures in T-SQL as well and general administration tasks.
The bulk of the rest of my work involved creating interfaces to and from different NHS software and applications which could involve anything from HL7 message format over SOAP to standard web services and rest services.
This role entailed managing and mentoring junior developers, meeting with NHS consultants to draw up specifications, plans and timescales for projects, programming new and existing projects and the design/implementation of the companies IT infrastructure on the N3.
The days I worked for ePAQ varied as their work required and in this time I have also taken other contracts/work most notably for Artery Media (recently renamed Artery Digital), this work involved anything from using Web RTC to create real time video conferencing systems to standard web applications and html 5 apps for mobile devices. I have also pursued other none IT related work in this time.
