2 year National diploma in Graphic design, from there I went onto start a further 2 year higher national diploma in Graphic Design, but 6 months into the course I was offered a permanent job at Qube Strategic Marketing in Wakefield, the chance of gaining actual studio experience was too good an opportunity to give up, during my time at Qube I dealt with many high profile clients such as Wrangler and Vileda to name but a few. I spent 2 years with Qube gaining a good knowledge of all software packages (ie. Freehand, Photoshop, Quark) and also learning to appreciate what it takes to become a good designer.
From Qube I then moved onto PAB Studios again in Wakefield, my position at PAB was more senior than before and therefore I was given more responsibility within the studio which meant helping to oversea the smooth running of the studio, again we worked with some high profile clients such as Ford, Rover and Porter chadburn.
During my time at PAB I was involved within many different types of briefs such as brochures, corporate id’s, adverts for local and national press & websites. The 2 years I spent with PAB helped to expand my skills as a designer, not having such big budgets to work with I had to be more inventive with the images I had at my disposal I also gained a greater appreciation of software packages.
I am currently working for a company called Glass Etc based in Barnsley, we produced three magazines on a monthly basis to the glass and glazing industry. This involved creating all the artwork for the magazine from adverts to editorials and pdf proofs to clients, right through to the ftp of the final files to the printers.
We also created a great deal of brochures, leaflets, newsletters, all of which are produced to highest of standards and within the tightest of deadlines. During my career I have learned to appreciate what it takes to deliver the highest quality artwork at all times.
From Zine I moved to In-house marketing department of EmpireDirect where I produced all promotional literature that is needed to promote an electrical retail chain, for we example we would produce leaflets, adverts, posters, billboards, bus wraps etc everything that promotes the company from bottom to top.On a more personal level I consider myself a real team player who can also manage his own time and briefs, I also have a wealth of knowledge and experience, a vast amount of energy, enthusiasm and a real thirst to get the job done and done well.
Since leaving Empire i have been working on a freelance basis with various companies whilst also working part time for yorkshire based design house.
On a more personal level I consider myself a real team player who can also manage his own time and briefs, I also have a wealth of knowledge and experience, a vast amount of energy, enthusiasm and a real thirst to get the job done and done well. I hope this brief letter gives you some insight into my ability and I hope to here from you soon.
