Also I have mobility problems which result in me having to take a lot of medication and it is easier for me to work from home than to get ready to out to work and travel there.
I live with my husband, who works in complience in a local Bank, my 2 children and our dog, Scooby. My children are a boy (19) and a girl (13). My son has Aspergers but is doing a degree in software development from home and my daughter is currently studying at Victoria College, Belfast.
I enjoy reading, especially historical novels and thillers. I also enjoy my garden when I am able to do it and cooking for friends. I have a fairly large eclectic circle of friends who I see on a regular basis. I also enjoy travelling when I get the chance and was recently in South Africa and I am looking forward to visiting Mexico later this year.
I am a hard working reliable person, who is passionate about good customer service, job loyalty and integrity. I am a very honest, open person and enjoy helping others in any way I can. I do not let my health prevent me from doing things I deem necessary or enjoy. I am loyal and enjoy dealing with and meetng new people.
Area Covered: General Information
Work Experience Summary: My employment history has been fairly varied and very interesting. I started in September 1984 as a Clerical Officer for the Royal College of Midwifery. This was based over 2 main sites with 2 minor sites. I was responcible for the libarry and all the administration and running of this service to the student midwives. My role included:
Maintaining and ordering the book collection of the library.
Enuring the relavent periodicals were ordered and back dated copies maintained in an accessible manner.
Assisting the students as they used the library, showing how to use microfiche etc.
Starting and maintaining a refence section from periodicals which we no longer had room for.
Any further administrative duties required when the site secretary was off.
My second job started in October 1986 as I joined the Northern Bank in the role of Junior Bank Official. My duties included:
Small Personal Lening
During my time at the bank I took and passed my Institute of Bankin Exams gaining honours in Business Comminication & Statistics and Financial Institutuons & Monetary Systems. I left the bank after 9.5 years at the level of Senior Bank Official
My next post was Sixth Form Study Supervisor at Grosevenor Grammar School and as this had been where I had gone to school it was like coming home. This was a new post and I developed the post as I went along. My duties included:
Supervising Students at Study.
Maintaining a register.
Liasing with staff regarding any issues that arose with students.
Giving administration support to the Head of Careers (including organising mock interviews and the first career conference the school had).
I also helped with the Mock Trail Competition and various school productions back stage on a voluntary basis.
I left this post due to ill health after 5 years and was unemployed for about 2 yaers then I did a similiar role in a temporary position at St Joseph's College, Belfast which lasted 7 months. I then went on to be PA to Peter Pullan in The Paul Rankin Group. My duties here involved:
Correspondance written and oral.
Dealing with incoming mail and telephone calls.
Miantaing and developing a data base for the central kitchen and bakery.
Flight, travel and meeting arrangements
Dealing with confidential material at times
I left this post because Mr Pullan retired and was not replaced due to a restructuring of the company and my job was no longer required.
I then went on to work for Scoobie Ltd which incorporated a butchers, cafe and bakery. I did all the admininistration for the business, including wages and invoices. This post was part time and unfortunately it only lasted a couple of years beofre the owner, regretfully had to let me go due to a downturn in trade. I still do some freelance work for him when required.
I then went to work as a Receptionist for Coulter Truck and Van doing all the normal receptionist duties, inlcuing maintaing the office stationary and some work for the Dealer Principal. Unfortunaterly this post was also made redundant due to the company being sold and reorganised.
It was then that I started to work from home for The Shop Direct Group. I trained with Arise for 8 weeks and passed the exams to become an Arise Accredited Professional. I deal, on the phone from home, with all manner of customer service, from orders to complaints and I keep my skills and knowledge up to date as required by doing any courses or exams as they come up.
