I will use my editing skills to enhance and minimise existing copy. All projects considered.
I also have DTP skills but would need to use clients' systems.
Area Covered: South Devon, ideally between Exeter and Plymouth
Work Experience Summary: In 1983, I edited then rewrote the entire technical specification for one of the earliest multi-user housing benefit and rating systems used by local authorities. (UHBICS). I also wrote the user manual from scratch.
From 1984 - 1992, worked as copywriter with agency and later in own business (DTP bureau) specialising with clients/products in IT sector. Wrote numerous press releases and articles in journlistic style, product brochures and also using DTP skills, wrote and desiged complete newsletters. Created letters for direct mailing exercises and maintained mailing lists... plus various ghost-writing projects on behalf of other agencies.
Education Summary: All my 'education and training' has been gained on-the-job. Getting copy past the account director, approved by the client and/or published in high-profile trade press with few alterations is the REAL endorsement. Being commissioned by editors to write for their publications is as meaningful as gaining an NVQ.
