I build web interfaces to databases, - in native PHP or Python, or built with a framework like Django or Content Management Systems (CMS) like Drupal or Wordpress. My experience with ASP and ASP.NET puts me in a strong position to migrate web sites and applications from these languages.
For those data operations that take place away from the web I script data migrations for various environments including Extract Transform and Load (ETL) or load then transform (ELT) for warehouse and reporting systems, mergers between disparate systems or systems migrations. I will take data from anywhere to anywhere - log files, csv, XML and a wide variety of databases inlcuding Access, MSSQL, Postgres and MySQL.
I have written and presented training material for systems administrators and am interested in training developers, DBAs and data analysts.
Area Covered: Remote
Work Experience Summary: I started work in December 1994 as a network technician on a Windows and Novell Netware network and the SNA network run in parallel with it. My systems administration experience focussed on Microsoft systems, including Exchange and, SNA Server and SQL Server until 2002. My experience with administering Linux systems started in 1999 and has formed the major part of my administration experience since 2002. Scripting has formed a significant part of this administration experience on Windows, Linux and some commercial Unixes using DOS batch files, Windows Scripting Host, general Unix scripting (bash, sed, awk ...) and Python.
Between 2003 and 2005 I edited training material for a course on network security for Linux systems administrators and presented the course on a number of occasions.
