Work Experience Summary: I am well versed in Adobe’s Creative Suite and Apple’s Final Cut Pro Suite, their related applications and add-on’s. I have a wide-ranging knowledge of other PC and Mac-based software from my years working in I.T and Technical Support. (Microsoft Office, Garageband, Ableton Live • among many others). All of this experience would be instrumental in the position in order to do the video and sound production itself.
I have experience of working with cameras in nearly every format over the past 10 years and am especially competent with Hi-Definition setups and filming editing. My most recent student production Negotiator’ was shot and edited as a Hi-Def production in order to be projected in High Definition (with 5.1 surround sound • mixed by me also) in the University Of Plymouth’s Jill Craigie Theatre’ as part of their 2010 Graduate Arts showcase.
I have been editing video on a personal/professional and academic level over 10 years in various forms and also over this time I have gained experience with small-format film production, editing and projection. I have experience of sound production on both a large studio-based and small home-based level and I have even recorded, produced and released a record with a band I was part in, in 2001. As part of my coursework I recently wrote and recorded the original music for most of my university video projects and even donated soundtracks to others.
Due to my involvement with Plymouth Museum and their Darwin exhibition I have experience of planning, creating and completing a project for a large organisation which had to be of a broadcast quality as it was being screened in public in Plymouth City Centre on the BBC’s Big Screen as part of the year-long Darwin celebrations in 2009, Darwin 200’. Along with the museum curators being hugely satisfied with the work, it also gained me the highest individual mark for a module on my course in the past 5 years.
I enjoy post-production immensely and find a real joy in seeing a project come to fruition. I am happy to work alone or within a team, as required and actively enjoy helping people when needed. I am able to work on a project from the ideas stage to the completed video with minimal input if required and have experience in script work and the creation of storyboards to further illustrate ideas for presentation purposes. I am extremely confident in what I do and always believe that there are ways around problems and especially enjoy problem solving when required.
Many of my previous roles have a had a strong element of interaction with the general public or colleagues as a whole and I have found that I work especially well around others, whether helping to run training as I did with my work at the Police or just generally approaching members of the public with my involvement with charities. This would work well with the training elements of the position for both the staff and students and also with the work-experience elements for the students as I can relate well to those younger than myself without coming across as condescending or patronising.
Over the years I’ve managed my own work-loads effectively but I’m not afraid to seek help and advice when required but also believe in taking responsibility for my decisions at every step of the process.
I am currently based back in Wales after completing my degree but looking to relocate for work.
