Hello! We have a relatively small Chrome extension, built using Create React App and Firebase, that needs to be upgraded from Manifest v2 to v3. The code itself is written in TypeScript and runs with Node 16. It's implemented using popup.html, so all of the user-facing code is basically a React app inside popup.html. What the extension does today is, it has 3 different views depending on the website URL that the extension is opened on: 1) In-app view - Basically says "Welcome to the extension" 2) Link creation view - Helps users create affiliate links via our API based on the current URL 3) Analytics view - Shows some of their website stats if they're on one of their domains The goal of the project is to move the extension to using Manifest v3 instead of v2 ahead of the deprecation of v2 by Google Chrome in June. There are a handful of things where it's using a background script, that need to move to a service worker. Mostly related to a bit of message passing, which is needed to authenticate the user, do things like retrieve cookies, etc. We also have a working development server for the extension, which can be used to test various states before building it and running it locally. It'd be amazing if someone has done this before and knows what needs to be changed, to perform this upgrade. Attached are some visuals of what the extension does, and a listing of the file structure within the "background" section of the extension codebase. As you can see, the files themselves are relatively small. The main file called "index.ts" which pulls together all the code from the background script, and is 287 lines of code. I'm sure there are other aspects that need to be updated to comply with the Manifest v3 format, but that should be the main thing!
