Description
Experience Level: Expert
Estimated project duration: 1 - 6 months
This a relatively simple project, but it does require copywriting skill and knowledge of the travel industry. In your proposal, please make clear how you have both. If you don't, you won't be considered.
Similarly, this requirement is for native German and French writers only. If you aren't either and you send a proposal, you will be flagged as spam. Fair warning.
*Project outline*
Introductions for navigational pages on the blog of a large travel brand. Each page has a theme - 'articles on romantic travel', 'articles on adventure travel', etc. Your job is to write introductions based on a detailed brief. If your application is successful then you'll get a full set of briefing documents.
*Scope*
This project covers both the French and German versions of the blog, so we need one French writer and one German writer.
For each site, the total remit is 52 pages, each of 250 words. I.e. a total of 13,000 words. We'll need you to deliver at least 10 a week starting immediately.
About you
You’re a copywriter by trade – you’re an experienced writer, passionate about words and travel, and you have the portfolio to show it. You’ll have extensive experience of journalism and/or commercial copywriting in travel. You’ll be very familiar with the typical formats used in online travel content, and the topics and subject areas covered.
You’ll be a travel expert, but you’ll also have good digital knowledge. That means you can write about destinations and travel topics with authority, and create arresting images while avoiding the clichés everyone else writes. But you also understand the subtleties of writing good link anchor text and you know basic HTML.
You'll need to be familiar with using keyword research to inform your copy - part of the requirement is to include one or two keywords. That also means you *must* understand how to work keywords into natural text without making it read as spammy SEO copy. Please evidence of your ability to do this with your proposal.
In short, you'll be writing French/German versions of the English sample copy attached.
Essential skills, experience and attributes
• Native speaker of French or German
• Exceptional writing skills, with a portfolio of travel writing
• Well-travelled, with good knowledge of travel destinations and trends
• Excellent research skills: if you don’t fact-check your own work, you won’t last long
• Plenty of experience in digital travel content
• Editing skills and experience
• Unfailing reliability – we need clean, error-free copy on time
• Fluent English
• Understanding of SEO
• Knowledge of HTML
• Ability to respond to feedback and make edits accordingly
