Description
Experience Level: Expert
We have our house drama competition coming up. We have seven houses and need to create a play which gives all seven houses an equal chance to win the house Drama competition. We are looking to perform a comedy. Therefore, we need a script written for us which:
1. Has seven scenes which are EQUAL in both length and quality/humour, each house will perform a scene each. Each scene should be approximately 8-10 minutes.
2. It needs to be set in one location (of your choice) with the same 5 characters on stage throughout the entire play (this means each group of performers doesn't have to worry about building different sets/props changes).
3. It has to be very funny but family friendly (no swearing, drugs, innuendo, racism, sexism, offensive/politically incorrect characters or super violent moments). Some kind of farce or silly plot line would be preferable.
4. The five characters should have clearly differing personalities but no 'lead role'; all parts are (mostly) equal in size.
5. There should be no elaborate or expensive costume/set in the script e.g. we cannot do 'they appear through a trapdoor' or 'they wear a gigantic wedding dress' stage directions. A minimal approach to staging and props is needed for our budget please.
The script writer applying for this task will need to submit a very short 'sample scene' in response to a brief to demonstrate their style of writing.
There will not be a 'pay-per-hour' system. The fee is for a full script submission plus edits.
The deadlines for this play are 10th August for the script and 30th August for edits.
