Description
edit: After some consideration and feedback I would like to be more specific with what I want at this stage.
I would like someone to reformat and restructure, fix grammar and punctuation errors and do a light editing of the text for clearer understanding. At this stage I am not looking for a ghost writer or a full-scale re-edit, as I am not sure yet if I will try to have the work published. My budget would be £150 for this brief edit.

Hey, David!
Is what you have written already in book format (paragraphs, chapters, and a clear story line) or does it need to be formatted and re-written to conform to the style of a novel? Approximately how many words do you think you'll have when you're finished writing? Finally, is it possible to see a small sample (3-5 pages) of your work?
Thanks!
JenniferDavid M.10 Aug 2016For what it is worth this is my story. Scotty March 2016
I hope someday my kids will be able to read this and just maybe help them in some way to understand their Dad.
I can only share what I remember and this is the best I can do. This is the best I can remember as a child. Home
We lived in a tenement house in Drumchapel Glasgow and we where the tramps in the street. Our house was a dump tore paper for wall paper a crap wee black and white TV rotten carpets and if you put your bare feet on the carpet the flea’s would jump on your leg forty or fifty at a time. My Mum and Dad were both gamblers and drinkers all their money went on that, we were very lucky if we got a dinner. Lots of times we would sneak up and steel dry bread from the kitchen as we were so hungry. I remember going to school stinking of piss, but at least at school we would get food. that’s were most of our food came from, even during the summer holidays we would go to a local school and get food throughout the summer time, I thank god.
Unfortunately I don’t remember anything about primary school or at least very little I do remember I was so small, I don’t even think I had a dick it was so small, so I would hate anything to do with sports as I would hate having to go to the shower room, even as kids it was always about who had the baggiest dick and who never. I hated it and I never understood why even to this day why men love to brag about their dick. It’s like if you had a big dick then you where superman and if you did not have a big dick, then you where more like a girl, so I would make any excuse to not take part and if I had to make a scene, I never once had to, or after the first experience I never did have to do that again or go through that again. Primary school for me has no good memories at all and as I never learned how to spell write or read up till I was about seventeen in a bookie there is nothing I can say in any positive way about those years other than I got my food at school.
I have an older sister and brother, two younger sisters and two younger brothers. All of us where undernourished. I was tiny with no front teeth I had Pieria some type of gum disease. The good times I remember were when we would go out to play; we would play two man hunt or kick the can. I also would go round looking for lucky bins we would often find good toys and lots of other things people throughout. Some of the shit I remember is my parents and our neighbours would play the wuigi board in our room, that used to scare the shit out of us all sorts of strange shit would happen in our room. There was strange ticking in our walls only at night and the shadows going around our walls. Then one night our big cousin was staying the night and had to sleep in our room with us, then early hours in the morning we all awoke to thundering footsteps in the hall even my big cousin shat himself, he was about eighteen at the time, we all jump out our beds and ran for the door and stated banging on our parents door. All I remember was in the morning our budgie, ginnie pig, and mouse was dead, it scared the shit out of us all and my cousin never stayed with us again.
I don’t ever remember my Dad or Mum ever giving us a cuddle or even telling us they loved us all they did was fight, My mum was in one way the worst, if we did something wrong she would beat the shit out of us with anything she could get her hands on belt, brushes, shovel, she gave us some beatings she was angry a lot. As for my Dad he would take me and my big brother with him a lot to make money, he would clean windows or stairs but most of the time he would then lose it in the bookies before we would get home and the walks were long we would often walk for miles this would happen more times than I care to remember.
I think I must have been about seven or eight when my Dad took me out to the shops with him to show me, teach me how to steel. Strange but this was one thing he did that was good as I was very good at steeling from shops and because my Dad used to clean windows we were often in other people’s houses and one thing we were told in no uncertain way we would never steel from people’s houses and to this day I have never stole from people’s homes or from people that don’t have. So I guess I had some kind of morals. Another thing we did often would go to certain doors in our neighbourhood chap the door and ask for empty gingie bottles, you could at that time get ten pence for each one. I would also go to shops before they opened and steel the morning papers , then go round the street and shout at the top of my voice “morning papers” I would make some very good money that way, I think I was about nine??. I also had a few customers that would order certain items they wanted and I would go steel them, I would do almost anything to make money.
The first time I ever got taking to a police station I was about nine I again I think? Anyway I used to go round the pubs with a salvation army can collecting money for charity I did very well with that too until I got caught, but again I think I may have been about ten they took me to the police station in old drumchapel I was about three foot tall so they were very good to me I still remember this big black policeman given me a gobstopper.
So my dad would come down and give me a telling off to make it look good but it was him that sent me out in the first place. I remember Halloween being a good time to make a killing sitting outside the pubs with what was called a guy and you would ask people for a penny for the guy that was a good earner. Then we would head of to Helinsborough a small town outside Glasgow to the beach and pick wilcks we would fill a bag then go home boil them put them in wee bags then head out and sell the round the streets, good money. We would do anything to make money.
I do remember my Dad did like to sing a lot and he was not bad, He used to tell us scary stories all the time so at least with him there are some good memories. He always had this big brick that he used to keep himself fit and always told us stories of how tough he was. He would often tell us about some pub or in a bookie some guy for some reason would pick on him then he would descript how once he hit the guy and the guy would fly through the air and land like a ton of bricks. I only ever once saw my dad fight and it was with a guy that lived in the next close to us. I say fight but I don’t remember seeing any actual fight but I don’t think the guy would come out. I have never seen my Dad actually fight with anyone but he had loads of stories I always have and to this day think my Dad was good at story telling. Funny thing is that I ended up playing the role of many of his stories.
Jennifer A.10 Aug 2016Thank you for sharing this, David! It sounds like you have a unique story to tell and I know many here would be eager to help you tell it. I see that you had a discussion with Anna below about budget; based on her comments, can you give me/us a rough idea of what your top shelf would be for help editing and re-writing your manuscript to get it polished?
Thanks again,
