Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
We are looking for a writer with EFL/TEFL experience to help write content (dialogues, definitions, example sentences) for a new elearning course. The subject area is "Medical English" and furthermore "English for Health Care Professionals".
The ideal candidate would have some experience designing materials for classroom or online use. While it doesn't have to be specifically "medical English" materials, it would of course be preferable. If you have existing lessons, syllabi, readings, etc, you can use them but we would get the copyright.
The elearning course will be very similar in structure to two existing elearning sites we own: (www.english4it.com and english4accouting.com).
If we choose you for the job, we would like you to write a test unit of material. If the test unit is good, we will order up to 14 more units for a total of 15 units. From previous experience, a unit typically takes between 3 and 4 hours to write, although this can of course vary.
Specifically, what I need for each unit of material is:
1. a set of 20 target vocabulary words, each with an easy and short definition and example sentence
2. A topical reading or dialog of 500 to 700 words which includes all the target vocabulary. It should be as authentic as possible and can even be a dialogue.
3. Three discussion questions for each reading.
We don't have a ready vocabulary list right now, and would ask the author (if they want) to propose the unit titles and initial 300 target vocabulary words. The theme of the course should be very general "medical English vocabulary". Some examples of sample units would be "Basic First Aid English Part 1", "English for Nurses Part 1", "English for Anesthesiologists".
