Description
Experience Level: Entry
Num. of books: 1
Topic: Ebook formatting
Tone: Formal/Professional
Outline & Structure: I just need the contents pages changing according to these instructions:
This problem can be definitely resolved by recreating the TOC without the link, please follow these steps in order to have your book successfully published with us:
Please delete the table of content of your book, in order to recreate it.
1. Create the Table of Content
1. Left click once where you want your table of contents to appear.
2. Type “Table of Contents” and press Enter
3. In Microsoft Word, locate the “References” tab at the top and find “Table of Contents”
4. Click “Table of Contents” and select “Insert Table of Contents…” from the drop down, which will cause a dialogue box to appear (don't choose manual)
5. On the dialogue box, uncheck the box that says “Show Page Numbers” (since this is an e-book and page numbers don’t apply)
6. Set the “Show levels” box to 1
7. Click “OK”
The table of contents should appear automatically
2. To set a bookmark so Kindle can find your Table of Contents
Kindle offers readers the option to "Go To” certain places in a book such as the table of contents, cover, or the opening passage (such as chapter 1), from anywhere within the book. These places are known as "Guide Items." To identify your table of contents as a guide item, follow these steps:
1. Highlight the words “Table of Contents” in your document
2. Click on the “Insert” tab
3. Select “Bookmark”
4. In the “Bookmark name” box, type “toc” (without the quotes)
After this, please resubmit your book by following these steps:
1. Log in to your account at https://kdp.amazon.com
2. Find the book you want to edit, and in the 'Other Book Actions' column, click 'Edit Book Details'.
3. Scroll down to Section 5 and under the text 'Book Content File', click 'Browse'.
4. Find the revised file of your book's content and select it.
5. Click 'Upload Book'.
6. Click 'Save and Continue'.
You'll also need to reconfirm Content Rights and click 'Save and Publish'. The new file will be available for sale within 24-48 hours. The 'Look Inside' sample should update within a week of republishing your book.
Extra notes: The price is negotiable if this is likely to take more than an hour but I have been informed that it shouldn't. Speedy response will be victorious - thanks
