I'm a psychologist currently in the process of improving a book that I just finished writing. I have some relatively weak endings to various subsections of my manuscript that need to be modified for greater impact. The subject of the book is an important (albeit delicate one - child abuse. A very critical
strategy for me has been to incorporate humor (or creative punch line) to offset the various traumatic scenes. It's not that I want to create an irreverent tone to the subject, but to demonstrate to readers how humor can be a positive coping mechanism and that just because bad things happen in life that the rest of your life doesn't have to be miserable.

Thus far, in my subsections of chapters, my goal has been to leave the reader with some kind of a punch line... a cynical remark, irony, a profound thought, a bit of humor, etc. ...anything interesting that will leave the reader with a marked emotion. This, too, is necessary to encourage readers to continue reading through difficult scenes.

Here is an example: "I watched a State Trooper stop and stand there shaking his head in disbelief as he observed Dad rebolting the trailer tongue back to the car. We eventually made it to the farm, nearly without a hitch."

Here is what I propose... I will email six subchapters (roughly around 500 words per section) to you.

I'm ONLY looking for the last line or two of each small section to be re-written or modified.

I'll also email a couple sample endings (that I do like) so you can get the gist of what I have in mind. My endings are a bit weak on these particular sections, so I will be overjoyed if you contribute something good to my project.

This will be a creative exercise. I hope that you are up for the challenge.

May inspiration strike!
