Description
Experience Level: Entry
Dictionaries are a necessary evil but if you're a writer where would you be without them?
What if someone changed all the meanings. So instead of 'oxymoron' meaning:
'a figure of speech by which a locution produces an incongruous, seemingly self-contradictory effect, as in “cruel kindness” or “to make haste slowly'
it mean't:
'an overweight football supporter'
or what about 'bigamist'? Normally it means 'a person who commits bigamy.' but in sillYDic's world it means Italian Fog!
silYDic is an entertainment site, Users will sign up for a daily infusion of fun and silliness - that's all it is!
So how many words do you know that are in common use in the American language that could be given a new lease of life.
Amuse your fellow Americans. I'm looking for Authors to help start the ball rolling by providing words and their crazy/funny definitions - the more the merrier.
Once sillYDic.com is properly up and running, anyone will be able to send their words and definitions and we're sure they will. So we will need help from our Editors who will be located in English speaking countries around the world.
George Bernard Shaw said England and America are two countries separated by the same language. Oxymoron would surely make a Brit laugh but maybe not a Yank.
So we need sillYDic to appeal to English speakers throughout the world and you could be a gainfully employed as an Editor as well as a published Author.
Drop me a line - make me laugh!
