Article focus: How Loneliness Affects Your Health OR $3.6 Million Awarded for Bard IVC Filter Side Effects
MedTruth is a health advocacy organization seeking article content. We’re looking for a nimble writer able to research a medical topic and write a piece that adapts to our brand and tone. Here’s some more info on our mission:
“MedTruth is a hub of consumer advocates specializing in prescription side effects and harmful medical devices. We track industry developments and sift through mounds of scientific data to help you better understand common medical risks. We believe it’s your right to know about potential drug dangers, hidden manufacturer histories and ongoing regulatory actions. We’re here to make it simple.”
Essentially, our work as consumer advocates involves writing informative pieces about the risks and complications linked to popular drugs and medical devices. We’ve covered anything from problems with the dangerous birth control IUD Essure, to the talcum powder ovarian cancer association, to diabetes-related tech developments. We also write about health and medical trends unrelated to our outreach efforts.
The assigned topic will be a news update, a regulatory change or an advocacy development. The most important skills are the ability to self-manage, stay organized and communicate effectively over email. The piece will be copyedited before publication, but there should only be minimal errors in the final draft. Please feel free to browse our previous articles at www.medtruth.com.
Editorial Instructions
Objective: To encourage engagement by sharing trending health info; to inform individuals who may have developed complications from a drug or medical device.
Directions: We’ll assign a topic, potentially with a link to an inspiration piece. Feel free to Google the topics for recency. Rewrite the headline and make it your own. Depending on the type of article, be sure to include facts, statistics, FDA mentions and/or applicable studies. Pieces will be checked for plagiarism. Please include a source list with your submission.
Word Count: Minimum 500 words; Longer pieces preferred.
Tone: Informative, accessible, conversational and catchy. Infuse personality into the pieces. Weave conversational sentences with informative sentences to keep the reader interested.
Headline: Grabs the reader, not necessarily over sensationalized but providing value, perhaps an answer to a question, bringing in a shock factor, showing an increase, etc.
Intro: Conversational lead-in, situates the problem and shows we understand and relate to the patient experience.
Closer: Bring it back to the human factor, or end with a statistic or an advocacy point that really drives it home.
