Description
Experience Level: Entry
Hi,
Im looking for an English speaking Academic Researcher of Professor to explain how to build a legitimate argument and what peer reviews means. But mainly what we look for and what we need to build arguments and credibility.
Basically, my mum is a Clairvoyant and believes she is guided by spirits. Now this is fine, this is her belief system which I accept.
However, she more recently has had extreme views about the likes of Covid-19.
including, it's to do with 5G, causes cancer and will lower the longevity of the human race considerably.
Now, she is fine to have these opinions, but when I ask for the proof of these theories, she provides none, but disputes scientific consensus for often badly written conspiracy theories published across Facebook and Google. She says she gets the information from Google, but we all know if the search term is right it will return what you want to hear.
She is often led by others, who are not professors or scholar, and the source of their information is greatly questionable.
I would like someone to impartially explain to her what peer review is, how you build credibility in an argument, the reason why conspiracy theories are conspiracy theories and:
The fact there are a lot of non credible sources out there, anyone can write fake news, and these stories often have little backbone.
I have tried to accept her point of view, but she offers no backup and it is often from a very weak source. But she doesn't listen to me.
This will need to a be on a google hangouts call, you will need to explain your approach to how you will structure the call, allow her to ask questions, and allow how to understand how she may pitch a better argument on her beliefs so that it is not one sided.
Need to be available at short notice
Many thanks
Max
