Description
Experience Level: Expert
We are looking for some help to setup an existing server (running Ubuntu 14.04.5 / Nginx) so we can use Let's Encrypt for SSL Certificates on a WordPress Network running approx 180 mapped subdomain websites.
Background:
We have a WordPress subdomain Network running approx 180 websites, all have mapped domain names using the Plugin "WordPress MU Domain Mapping" (we are aware this is no longer needed, but the server does not have cPanel or Plesk installed and the plugin currently makes it easy to add new sites/domains). Some of the domain names are managed by our customers, but all domains point to the server IP Address via A Record.
At the moment all sites work with one vhost file, but from what we understand Let's Encrypt only support max 100 domain names via a SAN certificate, so we need help setting up a process where we can use multiple vhosts and maybe split them in to blocks of 50 sites/domains. We also need advise on how to manage the base domain name — e.g. should it have a wildcard cert for the subdomains?
Please note, this is not a simple process of installing Certbot and Let's Encrypt — we need help with the server setup.
If you have any question, please let us know.

Why don't you split the task to avoid confusion? -
