Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
To do: I need to redirect a website from "www.example.com/subdir" to "www.example.com" WITHOUT moving folders/files to the root directory - i.e. when people enter the website the /subdirectory in the URL path should be hidden.
Environment: The WP instal is on IIS and is installed in the subdirectory.
Troubleshooting done: I've tried a well known route you can find on Stack and some blogs: copying index.php and adding /sudir/ to "require( dirname( __FILE__ )". The web.config was also moved and the standard process followed correctly.
Unfortunately, I'm stuck in redirect loop or 500 error or forced redirect back to /subdirectory that spits 404 error.
Assumptions: The issue is likely with Response.Redirect (default.aspx) - however, the further troubleshooting is beyond my skills/time.
Expectations: Currently, I reverted everything back to the default state. And I need skilled IIS+WordPress to sort this out quickly and painlessly.
