Hi Erika,

Following our conversation yesterday, I would quote £200 for the same user database work. This would involve merging the user databases of the and so that the same usernames and passwords could be used on both sites, which was your main concern with the current set up.

If you are happy I will get started right away on the job.

I look forward to your response.

Hi Alex

Can we clarify a few issues before confirming.

How would this work with wordpress and theme updates? Would I need bespoke assistance everytime I apply an update?

Having read a little about sharing the user database I think I would need to ensure they are updated in tandem in future - can you confirm this and let me know if there would be any other guidelines I'd need to follow in future? currently isn't using the very latest version of the Canvas theme - there are usually a few styling probs when I update it, so I'm a couple of months out of date. To prepare the site for this and future proof it for coordinated updates could you apply the latest version of Canvas and create a child theme for as part of this package?

I'd also want the agreement to include sorting out any immediate glitches directly related to the change.

Assuming that's all OK, other concerns are:

Ensuring that users cannot access the backend/ do stick to the frontend of (Peter's Login Redirect may help with that - currently unactivated in my plugins list.).

Ensuring users cannot access membership without being a member. (I'm pretty sure this is fine as currently people cannot self-register as users on the Proweses site - but I'm just asking the question in case I've missed something).

So far the only issue members need to be logged into for is to own and update their Directory entry (via Sabai Directory). I have set up a charter members section via and other submission pages. Other member benefit areas on prowess are accessible via frontend forms.

I've just updated both sites to https (ssl) and the host has moved them to another server. I'm assuming they are on the same server as they are connected. The host is Vidahost.

Finally, I currently don't do my own backup - just get my host to revert if there are any problems. They update twice a day at around 5.30am and 5.30pm. Just to bear in mind in case there are problems.

Let me know what you think and hopefully we'll be good to go.

Hi Erika,

To answer your questions.

Updates - It should not be affected by updates. We are changing where Wordpress gets its user information from in the database. However, as you have correctly said, both websites should be updated in tandem.

We should update all plugins and themes across both websites before this and yes, it would be included in the package.

With regards any immediate glitches, yes, of course I would be there to fix them. Wouldn't be good for my reputation if I left you in the lurch!

We can solve the users not accessing the backend using that plugin on both websites.

With regards users only being able to access the membership if they are members, I am unable to access the charter.prowess site for some reason to look into this using the credentials you originally gave me. Could you please check?

With regard backups, the main changes will be happening to the charter.prowess site, which as I understand it, is not live, so even if we do need to restore a backup it should be fine. Also I will not delete any database tables and will keep a backup copy of all the files on my hard drive.

Best regards,

Hi Alex

OK let's go ahead!

Here are the charter login details:

U: Support Desk
P: NA$'YZMx7XAkV#3

I'm going to start this off on a new workstream as the title of this one is no longer relevant. You'll probably have to quote again.

Let me know when you'll be doing this.

Best wishes
