Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Last Year we commissioned a developer to create an E-portal for our Political Literacy Course. You can see the E-portal here:
http://education.shoutoutuk.org/
Schools have started using it and works great! However, we recently wanted to update it with some additional features. The old web developer is currently traveling, so we need to find someone new.
What we are looking to:
-Replacing video with slideshow
-Front page changed
-One of shop with free videos (the videos would be free and available, with a payment option to buy the lesson plan and slideshow)
-Link internal student blog section to the main website (www.shoutoutuk.org), so that all blogs are automatically sent there.
-Add in teacher portal a payment so that they can buy more credits for workshops or students.
-Allow teachers to edit internal poll, with results tab added for each poll.
-Set up a new School Councils section, with guides and students and teacher section
-Set up a new School News section, with guides and student and teacher section
A brief will be avilable with more details.
Please see below old advert, for reference:
General information for the website: We sell a political literacy course online + a booking set up for workshops
Description of requirements/features: I run a company called Shout Out UK, we are a multi-award winning independent youth news network that, via journalism, film, events and education aims to get more young people active and interested in politics.
As part of our endeavour, we also run a Political Literacy Course, which aims to get more young people interested and engaged in Politics, by teaching them about politics, the processes in Politics, as well as people skills like public speaking and debating. Also, as we are registered with AQA for the delivery of the Unit Award Scheme (UAS), upon successful completion of each unit in the course, students will receive a UAS certificate from AQA as an added bonus.
The Course covers an Introduction to British Politics (local and national, separation of powers, voting and debating), International Relations (Britain and the World, Media Literacy and a brief look at political theory) and Employability & Politics (Oratory skills, debating and public speaking). In essence, the Course shows young people that politics is in everything we do in life – so it pays to be involved. Plus, the skills learned on this Course enhance the student’s self-image, confidence and emotional resilience.
Currently the Political Literacy Course is currently being digitized, to be ready in September 2017 as part of a new enrichment subscription service we are setting up for schools. The service is a year long package which would give schools access to all our various workshops, our (now online) Political Literacy Course and exclusive films to use as you see fit with your students.

THE JOB:
We are looking for a web developer or a company to help us create the platform that will sit on a subdomain (education.shoutoutuk.org) and act as the hub for it.
The platform will have to include:
1. A login for the lead teacher of the school, where they can sign up students to take the online course and book in workshops as and when they want us to come in (similar to a booking calander system), which goes down in credits. Once they hit zero, no more workshops can be booked, but they can buy more if so wished.
2. The online course, with built in exercises and places to upload + resource area. As well as a page open to all which show cases speeches students have uploaded (view course info pack to understand in more detail).
3. The login page etc for the students for when the teachers set them up. It would also be good to have a way for young people not in school to be able to take the course and pay individually.
*This is a little complicated so PLEASE READ ABOVE IN FULL BEFORE PITCHING.
The developer we are looking for:
-Must be Europe based (UK preferable)
-Must have experience in creating educational E-platforms
