Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
About us
A UK based Estate planning company offering Will writing and Lasting Powers of Attorney to consumers in England & Wales. Most customers are middle-aged and above.
What we're looking for
An experienced full stack developer to kick-start our brand new online Wills and LPAs website. There are some other legal documents we will offer as well.
What we have now
Both our current WordPress websites run on a Litespeed VPS. One website is a brochure. The other is a Woocommerce site - currently used only for taking online payments from offline sales. Our staff use web drafting software in the office.
The plan
We see this project being built onto the Woocommerce site - card payments with Barclays ePDQ is already live. Let Woo handle the order and cart process. Custom code the address book, legal document questionnaires, and PDF legal documents production.
Stage one - collect questionnaires, we re-key and draft the documents in the office. Not a DIY self-service.
Stage two - add DIY drafting - full self-service - replace the re-keying in the office - no use of our existing drafting system for online orders.
Stage three - our office uses the new system for drafting offline orders as well - we stop using our existing drafting system.
Timetable
We'd like to have a minimum viable product version of one stage live every month.
MVP Stage one after one month.
MVP Stage two after one more month.
MVP Stage three after one more month.
You will then improve the project continually.
e.g. add a postcode lookup system - so all UK addresses can be looked up from postcode.
e.g. integrate with an online print and post service.
These are important legal documents, so confidentiality and security are important. The underlying database will hopefully be encrypted. We have to comply with GDPR and data protection matters.
There will be an intelligent questionnaire/form for each legal document. Collecting family members names and addresses and other details is a key part. Each person can have multiple roles within one document, and across multiple documents, the site needs a private address book for each user so that they can re-use entries without re-keying everything. If an address book entry is updated, all documents that use that information should update.
There must be strong security between customers. Customer A must never see customer B's data.
When the document is for a couple, we need to complete the questionnaire for the first person, then have the option to create a mirror image for the partner. The mirror image for person two can then be edited independently of person one's questionnaire.
The site needs lots of online help available every step of the way - we need to be able to maintain this copy.
Perhaps you should make a form builder, like wp forms builder, so we can build the questionnaires ourselves? It doesn't have to be drag and drop, we can cope with editing code in text files.
We'd like to be able to copy/paste multiple elements at the same time within a form, happy to edit HTML or xml type code.
WP forms does some of what we want, but it doesn't have an address book for re-using people in different roles. And there's no persistent data between sessions. And copy/paste is one element at a time.
We need a user to be able to login, create, edit, delete questionnaires. Logout, come back in a week and pick up where they left off.
User's data should be kept secure if another family member uses the same device.
For many roles in a legal document, e.g. executor, beneficiary, trustee, legacy, attorney, the user may want from none to many instances of each role.
Mobile and tablet first.
Easy to use.
Multi-section questionnaires.
How will it bolt onto Woocommerce? Could you do some custom work to downloadable products in Woo? Customer buys Woo downloadable product. When they click the download link in the order, it opens that questionnaire?
The user works from their Woo account screen - selects relevant order, clicks a link in the order to open the questionnaire.
The woo customer will make documents that include themselves in various roles (testator, donor, executor, ect), so name and address, and email they entered in Woo should copy across to an address book entry for themselves in the drafting system.
What else do you need to know?
Thanks for reading.

Hi Graham,
Is this your real budget as it is insufficient for your requirements.
David -
Hi Graham,
Are you flexible with your budget? The one you proposed is unreal for the work you require.
