Experience Level: Expert
Our organisation was established ten years ago. To celebrate we are looking back at the last ten years at key events and how management and leadership has changed.

We are building a timeline that will include key news events (eg collapse of Lehman Brothers, London tube bombings) and landmarks in working life (eg the rise of digital communications).

We want to build this content into a piece of web content that is fun to use, interactive and which allows users to go into content in more or less depth as they wish.

Because we use the RedDot CMS, anything produced will need to be able to be dropped into the source code of the CMS, to ensure we don't need to call on the services of our web agency. We currently do this with YouTube embed code, so this would need to work in a similar way. We do experience some problems putting YouTube video embeds into RedDot, so would need to be sure that any solution would work before proceeding, perhaps by testing with a previous similar project you have worked on. With YouTube content is hosted elsewhere, so we would need to establish here where the animation actually sits.

We have in mind something like the BBC's interactive 100 objects timeline: www.bbc.co.uk/ahistoryoftheworld/explorerflash/#/contributor/137/ Or this British history timeline: www.bbc.co.uk/history/interactive/timelines/british/index_embed.shtml

Our timeline will be simpler and less ambitious than the examples given above. We would feature fewer events and would supply all the events and associated copy.

At this stage we are looking for an initial quote for work of this kind, with indications of the price impact of more or less ambitious approaches. We also require creative input to develop our thinking: your ideas on how a timeline featuring two tracks (news and business/management) could be presented and made interesting.

We would also like to see examples of similar work you have done, examples of where you have embedded work in a third party CMS and, further down the line, references from clients.

We will need to establish you as a supplier in our finance set up.

We are looking for a quote that will beat our established web agency, but not for a rock bottom price on this. As long as quotes are below our agency's bid then we will judge them primarily on quality of ideas and experience and then on price.
